Recently our friend from South Africa, Nicole Palmer, spent a week with us before beginning a two month stay in Paris. Her work was assessed by the South African National Arts Council, who awarded her the use of one of their ateliers in the Cité Internationale des Arts. http://www.nicolepalmer.co.za/ During that week we introduced her to this beautiful region – and thought that other people might like to see something of the area.
One day off, and then on September 30th we started again, this time with Nicole and with our American friends, David and Lucy, who had also come to stay – to Urval, a lovely hamlet.

After the Fete des Crepes, it's the Mechoui - where several whole lambs are barbecued. We don't get bored here!
Again, it's on the grounds of the chateaus, although with fewer people than during the Fete - only about 150.
In the morning, we set the tables, and prepare the melons - and the barbecue, of course

An aperitif, and finally, the lamb is presented to the crowd. This year we had two guests, a Canadian and an Australian, although they live in Scotland, who were thrilled to participate in the this village event.
