Après un été assez chargé et chaud, nous avons décidé de faire une courte pause et de partir pour l'Espagne. Nous étions intéressés par l'hôtel rénové de Canfranc Estacion, (5 etoiles) et avons décidé de nous y rendre en voiture et de prendre le train pour Saragosse.
After a fairly busy, and hot, summer, we decided to take a short break and head off to Spain. we were interested in the renovated (5 star) hotel at Canfranc Estacion, and decided to drive there and take the train to Zaragoza.
Le tunnel du Somport – le plus long d'Espagne, avec près de 9 km. Utile, mais pas très intéressant !

Canfranc Estacion is a formerly international railway station in the Spanish Pyrenees, which was opened during July 1928, constructed on a grand scale in the Beaux arts style, to serve as a major hub for cross-border railway traffic. However, with a major fire shortly after opening, war, and then a derailment in 1970, traffic stopped and the station fell into disrepair,
The station has now been developed into a 5-star hotel, with a small train line that serves Zaragoza twice a day. Having visited the town in 2019, before the renovation was finished, we wanted to see the result, and take advantage of the train.
Canfranc Estación est une ancienne gare ferroviaire internationale des Pyrénées espagnoles, qui a été ouverte en juillet 1928, construite à grande échelle dans le style des Beaux-Arts, pour servir de plaque tournante majeure pour le trafic ferroviaire transfrontalier. Cependant, après un incendie majeur peu après l'ouverture, la guerre, puis un déraillement en 1970, le trafic s'est arrêté et la gare est tombée en ruine.
La gare est maintenant transformée en un hôtel 5 étoiles, avec une petite ligne de train qui dessert Saragosse deux fois par jour. Ayant visité la ville en 2019, avant la fin de la rénovation, nous voulions voir le résultat, et profiter du train.
Du Cava, un vin petillant - Freixement, pas tres interessant, mais un refroidisseur de vin pour chaque demi bouteille.
Not impressed with their Sparking wine/Cava seclection - Freixement. But a wine chiller for each half bottle!
De Canfranc à Saragosse, c’est 150 km., mais plus que 3 heures. Nous avons commencé dans le noir. From Canfranc to Zaragoza is only 150 km., but over 3 hours on the train. We started in the dark.
