8 mai a Carlux. VE day in Carlux

Comme tous les ans, on célèbre le 8 mai à Carlux autour u Monument des morts.  Et on est toujours fier du drapeau canadien qui flotte avec celui de France.

As we do every year, we commemorate the end of WWII in Europe, VE day, in the village.  And, as usual, we are proud of the Canadian flag, next to the French one.

Robert, l’ancien combattant, 91 ans, qui m’a parlé du réseau Chaban-Delmas, avec qui il était résistant.

Robert, who is 91, talked to me about the Chaban-Delmas resistance network.  (Chaban-Delmas, not his real name, but he took Chaban, his resistance name, after the war, was head of the Assembly, Prime Minister, and Mayor of Bordeaux for 48 years!) J’ai dit à Daniel que je voulais une photo du drapeau Canadien, et voilà ..

I told Daniel I wanted a photo of the Canadian flag, and he decided to help.

Et après, devant la Mairie (et dedans) on boit un coup.  Afterwards, in front of the Mairie, and inside, a drink.
