4 avril – la cuisine et le fournil. The kitchen and the bake house.

Depuis 3 ou 4 jours les cuisinistes installent les éléments de la cuisine.  On est (je suis) ravie !  On attend le granite, mais à part ça, presque tout est installé.

Peinture le 'French Grey de Farrow et Ball, plus étagères en chêne .J'avais déjà l’ilot central, mais avec des panneaux en noyer.  Pierre nous a gentiment offert de poncer le plan de travail en chêne, et de remplacer les panneaux.  Superbe !

For the last 3 or 4 days, the carpenters/kitchen installers have been at work, putting in the various cabinets.  We (I) am thrilled.  We‘re still waiting for the granite, but apart from that, it’s almost all installed. Paint is 'French Grey' from Farrow and Ball, with shelving in oak.

I already had the island, but with panels in walnut veneer.  Pierre kindly offered to sand the oak top, and to replace the panels.  Looks great.

Quand même, la vie continue – et Jean-Louis nous amené des gens de l’association La Pierre Angulaire, qui s’occupent du petit patrimoine de la région.  Ils voulaient regarder notre four, et le fournil.

During all this, life continues – and Jean-Louis brought some people from the Pierre Angularie (Corner stone) who are trying to protect the ‘petit patrimoine’ – things that have historic interest in a region, but are not looked after by associations and laws protecting chateaux, etc.
