19 février. Hermanus, et la route vers Caledon. Hermanus, and the road to Caledon.

Apres un weekend très chaud (36), il faisait plus frais, et on a décidé de faire une promenade sur la corniche, jusqu’à Hermanus.  Mais les nuages qu’on voyait étaient très bas, et on n’a pas vu beaucoup de soleil.  Beau, quand-même.

After a very hot weekend (36) with the cooler weather we took a trip along the coast to Hermanus.  Turns out the clouds we could see were quite low, and it was overcast most of the day.  Interesting, nevertheless.

Un vin qu’on n’avait pas vu avant – Ataraxia, le mot pour ‘un état serein, sans souci.  Bon.

We hadn’t seen this wine before – Ataraxia, which is ‘a serene state of mind, free from worry and pre-occupation’.   We can handle that.

On est sorti de Hermanus sur une petite route, qu’on a pris l’année dernière avec des amis, David et Lucy – avec beaucoup de poussière pendant des kilomètres.  Apres une année de travaux, maintenant il n’y a que 12 kilomètres de route sans macadam.

Leaving Hermanus, we took a back road, last taken with friends David and Lucy last year, in clouds of dust.  After a year’s construction, there are now only 12 km of dirt road.  Somewhat better.

We saw black fields, and so decided to check them out – turns out it was black plastic covering.

On a vu des champs noirs – que du plastique.

Un peu plus loin - même sous les nuages, le paysage est beau.

A little further on - even with the clouds, the countryside is lovely.

 Presque chez nous.  Almost home.
