Once again, the Fetes des Crepes in Carlux.

We knew that hot weather was predicted for the weekend and it came.  About 40 in the shade, and we passed most of the time either in the sun, or behind gas burners.  Some of us didn’t make it through the weekend.

On attend les 14 crepières.  Waiting for 14 crepe makers.

Un est arrivé.  One has arrived!

Dimanche – one prépare le repas. Sunday – getting the meal ready.

Sunday – getting the meal ready.  Normally we serve around 300 people, but this year there were fewer because of the heat.

Les tables sont prêtes.  The tables are set

Beaucoup d’ail se prépare.  Lots of garlic

Et les haricots mijotent.  And the beans are simmering.

Several of us also cooked confit, but I was too hot to take photos!

La course aux ânes. The donkey race.

Each year the young – and not so young – participate in the donkey race.  Always in some sort of costume.  This year smurfs were popular.

And why not, a little tug-of-war?

Que le repas commence! Let the meal begin!

Friday morning we usually go to the market at Souillac, about 10 minutes away. Always lots of good things.

For those who started very early, a hearty breakfast.

Blueberries, just like in Ontario.  I'm his best customer.

Saucisse de porc, de sanglier, meme d'ane
Lots of different sausages, even wild boar and donkey! (ane)

Et bien sur l'ail.  And of course, garlic.

Even at the supermarket good things, nicely displayed
