La Fête des Crêpes. Une bonne journée, une mauvaise journée. One good day, one bad day.

Starting with the good news.  Saturday, there was rain predicted, but despite the clouds, the weather wasn’t bad (better than last year at 40 degrees)

Premièrement, il faillait finir les préparations.  First, finish the last preparations.
Le manege - the merry-go-round, still in pieces.

Un peu menaçant.  Threatening clouds.

Puis l’apéro.  Then a quick drink before lunch.

And something new in the afternoon – a wedding during the fete.  In France you must have a civil marriage, and so the couple go to the Mairie first, decorated for the event.

Et puis à l’église.  Then to the church.

The crepe makers begin.  Raymond who taught me how to make crepes 19 years ago.

Et les enfants s'amusent. And the kids are having fun.

No more photos for Saturday.  We started at 9 a.m., and around 8 p.m. I went home, knowing that I would have to start again at 9, but this time go until midnight.

Dimanche 25 août.  Sunday 25 August
Then a very difficult day begins.  In the morning we set the tables, set up the bar and the kitchen, etc.

In the afternoon, rain – for hours.

Norbert n'est pas content.  Norbert is not happy!

Nevertheless, I start to cook confit. Normally we serve about 280 meals, but this year, with the rain and the cold, only 150.

Et la première course aux ânes commence.  The first donkey race begins.

After the race, the jockeys have fun, while Michel checks the soup.

Fireworks at midnight – including the ‘burning’ of the château.

Monday, back at work for the clean-up, but at noon, we get together for a meal – the best part of a difficult weekend.

Christine puts a little wine into the last of her soup, a custom here, called 'faire chabrol.'  I prefer my wine in the glass and my soup in the bowl.
Harry est content de s'asseoir. Harry, happy to sit down

.Une belle lumière en fin de journée.  Lovely light at the end of the day.  Home to bed.
