le 23 octobre. Des amis déjeunent chez nous. Friends come for lunch.



Nous avons commencé avec une salade aux endives, avec des noix et du jambon.
Puis des tartelettes aux tomates, pommes Anna, des haricots verts

We started with salad of endives, ham and walnuts.
Then on to tomato tartlets, potatoes ‘Anna’ and green beans
 Et le ‘star’. des crêpes Suzette, avec de la pâte préparée pour la Fête des Crêpes.  Sauce grâce à Julia Child, beaucoup de beurre, du Grand Marnier, du Remy Martin. Ça ne se fait pas souvent !
And the star, crepes Suzette, made from crepe batter prepared for our Fete des Crepes.  Sauce from Julia Child, lots of butter, Grand Marnier, and Remy Martin.  I don’t make it often!

Le 15 octobre. Il fait beau, nous sortons dans le cabriolet. Weather's great, so we take the convertible.



 Avec le beau temps, nous voulions sortir dans le cabriolet – donc, j’ai trouvé un restaurant en plein campagne.  Nous, tous seuls, avons bien mangé.
Since the weather was wonderful, we decided to go out in the convertible.  So, of course, I found a restaurant in the middle of the countryside.  We were all on own, but had a good meal.

Il y a à peu près 8 000 perroquets à Paris.  There are about 8,000 parrots in the gardens of Paris.




 Nous aimons beaucoup ce musée, avec les œuvres d’art collectionnés par le banquier et sa femme, artiste.  Et cette fois il y a une exposition d’un autre couple, cette fois danois, qui collectionnaient des tableaux. .  Corot, Cezanne, Matisse, Renoir, Sisley, Morisot.

 Et un cafe gourmand, pas commes les autres. Cafe gourmand is a wonderful invention that usually means coffee with small pastries, but not usually smarties, gummie bears, etc. Good, though
 Une baignoire!  A bathtub!

Depuis quelques années en France, on voit des soldats armés, des gendarmes partout. Un peu moins stressant quand on les voit en rollers. 
 For a few years now we have been used to seeing armed soldiers and gendarmes in France. A little less stressful when they are in rollerblades.


L’après-midi, à la Monnaie de Paris et son musée.  Beau bâtiment, musée intéressant.
In the afternoon, to the Mint, and its museum.  Beautiful building, interesting museum.



Le méridien avant qu’il soit à Greenwich !
Before the Meridian went to Greenwich, it was French!





 Ils travaillent toujours ici.  They still actually work here.

Très parisien.  Very Parisian

Une matinée magnifique au Grand Palais – l’exposition sur Irving Penn.  Pas de photos de ses œuvres, bien sûr, mais à ne pas manquer.
A wonderful morning at the Grand Palais, at the Irving Penn exhibit, which was magnificent.  No photos of his photography, of course, but not to be missed.

 Encore une fois, typiquement parisien.  La Tour Eiffel, et des nuages.
Again, typically Parisan.  The Eiffel Tower, and lots of clouds.


 Le Centre Culturel Canadien.  Nous cherchions notre culture ailleurs
