le 28 juin - Le Chateau de Bridoire

Le 28 juin, une sortie au Château de Bridoire, avec le club Au Fil du Temps. Le château, qui date du xii siècle, a une histoire moderne très intéressant. En 1978 il a été vendu a une société sénégalaise, dont le gérant était un sénégalais très important, mais qui n’est jamais venu en France.  Avec des portes mal fermées, le château est pillé, endommagé, presque détruit.  Après 15 ans de problèmes juridiques, le château a été expropriés (la première fois que ça arrive en France) et la famille Guyot s’en occupe, avec des artisans et des bénévoles du coin.  Depuis 2012 le château est ouvert, et reçois 70 000 visiteurs chaque année.

I went on an outing with a local club to a chateau about an hour away  Bridoire goes back to the 12^th century, but its modern history is the most interesting.  In 1978 it was sold to an important Senegalese gentleman, who never came to see it.  Over the years it suffered terrible damage, most of the furniture, even the fireplaces, were stole, people squatted in it, and spread graffiti around.  After 15 years of back and forth with the courts and the government, it was finally expropriated from its owner, a first in France.  A family named Guyot took on the restoration, with artisans and volunteers from the area, and it now receives 70,000 visitors a year

Rouffillac est à 2 km de chez nous – avec ce petit snack/restaurant a cote de la rivière. Avec des amis pour la première fois !

le 7 juin. Le Vieux Logis, Tremolat

Enfin, après des mois de confinement les restaurants sont ouverts.  Donc, nous avons décidé de fêter 2 anniversaires (mars et mai) plus l’anniversaire de notre arrivée en France, le 10 juin 1994,  à notre restaurant préféré, le Vieux Logis.  After months of isolation, restaurants are open, and, we decided to celebrate 2 birthdays plus the anniversary of our arrival in France, June 10^th, 1994, with a visit to the Vieux Logis.  

 

On commence avec des croquettes de canard, tomates/basilic, et une purée de quelque chose.  We start with duck croquettes, tomato/basil, and a puree of something.
