Comment on voyage - où on se loge. How we are travelling - where we are staying

Puis il a fallu trouver le logement. On avait des amis dans plusieurs pays – Canada, évidement, mais aussi Hawaii. On a regardé les tarifs d’hôtel ou d’appartements à louer, et on a vite décidé de chercher des maisons en échange. Apres tout, on a une maison en France ! Très désirable. Malheureusement, il n y’a pas beaucoup de monde qui veut visiter la France en hiver (il y en a, mais pas beaucoup) Mais on a notre appartement, ou on habitait nous même pendant presque 10 ans, et on peut donc offrir un échange ‘non simultané’. On a mis notre maison sur http://www.trocmaison.com/show.php?id=130929 et petit à petit, on a reçu des offres dans la Nouvelle Zélande, et en Australie. Plusieurs couples sont déjà venus à Carlux, plusieurs viendront pendant l’année prochaine. Pour le moment, on est très heureux, et très impressionnés avec les échanges, et on espère que les autres le seront aussi.


Voici la maison a Alstonville, dans le nord de la Nouvelle Galles du Sud, ou on passe presque 4 semaines - parfois il ne pleut pas.


Then we had to find places to stay. We had friends to stay with in some locations – Canada, obviously, but also Hawaii. A quick look at rental rates in Sydney convinced us that we should pursue house exchange possibilities. After all, we have a house in France! Unfortunately most people are smart enough not to want to come to the south-west of France in the winter (although some actually do) But since we have a self contained apartment as part of our house, where we ourselves lived for most of 10 years while we rented out the larger part, we were able to offer ‘non-simultaneous’ exchanges. So we listed with http://www.homeexchange.com/show.php?id=130929 and gradually we had offers in New Zealand and Australia. Several people came to stay with us before we left, several others will come in 2011. So far we have been very pleased and impressed with the places we have stayed, and we hope they feel the same.

This is the house in Alstonville, in northern New South Wales, where we are spending almost 4 weeks. Sometimes it isn't raining!
