Autour de Luderitz – around Luderitz

Comme on était à Luderitz, on a décidé de faire un tour. Ce n'est pas une grande ville, mais il ya une "visite panoramique" autour de la ville. Nous, des Canadiens, savent que lorsque les astronautes d'Apollo ont été en formation pour aller à la lune, ils ont été envoyés à Sudbury, en Ontario, qui a été considéré le terrain le plus proche de la lune. Ils auraient dû aller à Luderitz, ou il y a vraiment un paysage lunaire. Elle a aussi, curieusement, un parcours de golf, fermé lorsque nous étions là-bas, en raison des vents violents.

Since we were in Luderitz, we decided to have a look around. It’s not a big town, but there is a ‘scenic tour’ around the outskirts. Canadians may remember that when the Apollo astronauts were training to go to the moon, they were sent to Sudbury, Ontario, which was considered to be such a bleak landscape it was the closest thing to the moon. They should have gone to Luderitz. It really does have a lunar landscape. It also, oddly enough, has a golf course, closed when we were there, because of high winds

L'objectif de notre visite panoramique a été Diaz Point. Bartolomeu Dias était un explorateur portugais, qui a trouvé un moyen de naviguer autour de l'Afrique, au Cap de Bonne Espérance, mais il s’est également arrêté à Luderitz en 1488. Si le vent soufflait aussi fort que quand on etait là, je ne sais pas comment il pourrait avoir atterri.

The objective of our scenic tour was Diaz Point. Bartolomeu Dias was a Portuguese explorer, who found a way to sail around Africa, at the Cape of Good Hope, but also stopped at Luderitz in 1488. If the wind was blowing as hard as it was when we were there, I don’t know how he could have landed.
